I need something to read.

And am coming up blank. I don't want to re-read anything on my shelves. Nothing is jumping out at me on any of the best seller lists.

I feel like I haven't read a good book in a long time. And that makes me incredibly sad. I don't like feeling sad. Especially about reading. I need to read like I need to breathe. I won a reading contest in 2nd grade for crying out loud (and won a free trip to ValleyFair. and got to meet some Vikings players. Couldn't tell you who. It was second grade. I didn't know squat about football. Oh wait, i still don't. Go Broncos!).

What are you reading right now? Inspire me. I need to breathe again.

Person who recommends a truly amazing read will win a virtual high five from me. Much better than meeting random NFL players.

  1. My bookclub is reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

We read Murder on the Orient Express last month. Very good, fun read. I had no idea who did it until the end.

Last year I read Out Stealing Horses. That might be the best book I've read in years.

  2. There is a lot of Vince Flynn in the book case.

  3. Just finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and I'm already on the second book. It's a really gripping mystery.

  4. Reading: "The Blessing of a Skinned Knee" and loving it :)

  5. I've heard from several people that Jeannette Walls' books "Half Broke Horses" and "The Glass Castle: A Memoir" are two of the greatest books ever written. I just bought "Half Broke Horses" and am pretty excited about it.

  6. I'm reading "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. LOVE it so far. I'll second Erinschech: The Glass Castle is great.

  7. Thanks everyone! I've started a list of books to request from the library. Yay!

  8. Hi! It's Nina from the Meetup board. Here are some of my faves ...
    -Dive from Clausen's Pier
    -The Red Tent
    -Like Water For Chocolate
    -Pillars of the Earth
    -Eat, Pray, Love
And I'm currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife and really enjoying it!

  9. I loved the whole Stieg Larsson series(Dragon Tattoo, Played with Fire, Hornet's Nest)

Also LOVED Pillars of the Earth (& subsequently)oh crap - the sequel (can't remember the name).

I vote for THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE too.

  10. I am reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon right now. They are soooooooo good. Everyone has been passing them around at my work.
